A lot of other flowers have to be grouped together.  But a sunflower, is different.  They seem to have a mind of their own.  You always see them in gardens, big and tall like a single tower.  They are like the overseers of the garden.  The guard of the yard you could say.  Or...I could be looking to deeply.
Either way, sunflowers are one of my favorites.  They are a stellar beauty.
Happy day!  Thank you for visiting my blog.

It's becoming that time of year!  My husband bought half a watermelon the other day, oh man!  It was soo good.  Nothing beats a great big juicy piece of watermelon!  Reminds me of summer, family and fun!
Here is a photo of my daughter Nevara from a few years ago, enjoying her slice heaven.

Happy days!

Happy Easter!  I just finished this painting last night.  I named it "Stop and Smell" because I think we all need to be reminded to slow down and take in all that we have and be thankful each and everyday.  I try to stop and smell the roses and I thank God for my many blessings.

I painted this one awhile ago and it has been in my private collection.  Now, I am putting it out there.  I love trees!  The bigger the better. And yes, I admit, I hug trees...and I talk to them...a little.  Some of them seem to have personalities.  Like these two oldies.  Imagine the years they have seen and the stories they could tell.  Carry on boys!

Spring has "sprung" more things to do!  Holy goodness I have been busy.  How about you?  One thing I did today was rake the front yard.  Getting all that dead grass up.  It was really nice outside.  Nothing like some good honest hard work to make you feel alive!  I miss that type of labor work.  I actually miss cleaning stalls as a kid growing up.  My very first job was mucking stalls and grooming horses at our neighbors Arabian training and boarding facility.  I would ride my  horse across the open fields to and from work.  Pretty cool I thought!  Not too many people doing that in 1984!  I miss that hard labor.  It is good for the soul.  It is what we humans were meant to do.  Don't get me wrong, I work hard taking care of my family, just not quite like mucking stalls.  Someday...I will have horses again and then I will probably be wondering why I ever missed the mucking.   God Bless!

"Moose Nap" Original watercolor napping moose painting 8"x10" by Colorado Artist Gay'l Yocom

SOLD

Happy spring!  This big lazy moose is enjoying spring.  I painted this moose when I first started playing with watercolors.  I lived in the mountains of Colorado, Grand Lake to be exact.  My house bordered the Rocky Mountain National Forest and I would have all sorts of wildlife walk through my open yard heading for the forest.  Moose, elk, dear, fox...  I miss that place!  Beautiful place to live.
We got about about 4 inches of snow here in Wellington from a nice spring snow storm yesterday.  Fort Collin, just south of us 13 miles, got more than us.  But Denver, that is a different story.  They got almost 2 feet of snow!  Today, it is bright and sunny.  Beautiful out.  It will be melting in the next couple of days.  This moisture will for sure help bring out those spring flowers.  I LOVE Colorado!

I'm back.  It has been awhile again since my last blog.  I have been in Texas visiting my best friend J.B., and her family.  We have been best friends since the 9th grade!  She is like a sister to me.  She is the most amazing woman, mother, and wife.  The strongest woman I have ever met!  She is a blessing to me, her family and to God.  A mother of five and always willing to help anyone out.  Putting her family's needs and friends needs before her own everyday.  And her hard working husband is right beside her every step of the way.  I could go on and on about how she serves her family and God everyday.  She has gone through so much in her life, past and present, and still has a smile, incredible laugh and a drive like no other.  She is truly and inspiration to all women!  And I love her dearly and thankful she is my sister.

This is a painting I did a few years ago.  I have had it in my private collection.  It reminds me of her never ending spirit to thrive!  What a beautiful family you have J.B.  God bless all of you.

Here I am....trying to make my life more simple and it is taking more of my time to accomplish that.  Do  you know what I mean?  I have been going through old boxes and papers and giving away things and throwing out stuff I don't really need.  It's hard.  I guess it will take awhile to get to the "more simple life".  After I go through all the old stuff and filter out what I can let go of.  I'm a sentimental Pisces, that likes to keep things.  Well not anymore.  I'm tired of all the "stuff".  I can still be sentimental though...

My parents were just here visiting from Grand Junction, Colorado.  They got to spend time with the kids on their own turf.  They love to have visitors.  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for coming down to visit with us!  I think is so important for kids to get to know their grandparents.  They had a great time!
God bless all those grandparents out there.  Thank you for taking time for your grandkids.  They love you and appreciate you!
